The boys team defeated Shaler 15-1 in the first round and move on to play Hampton at Shaler. This Quarter final game will take place at 6:00pm on Wednesday 5/26.
Today I posted a copy of our schedule. None of the times or location (home or away) are set in stone and will probably change multiple times throughout the season. However, the dates should be considered set unless there is weather involved. I have sent e-mails to the coaches of the teams that we are playing to better set up the times of each game. Maura was selected as a All-Division All-Star player for Division 2. She also made the All-WPIAL Second Team! Congratulations Maura!
Congratulations to the Men’s Lacrosse team, and coaches Mike Evans and Greg Ringling, for winning the WPIAL Division 2 Section 1 Championship! The team clinched the Section Title with their victory over Winchester Thurston, 13 – 7, finishing regular season Section play undefeated. This is the fourth Section Championship earned in six seasons of play!
GCC will compete for the WPIAL Division 2 Championship starting with a Quarterfinal game on our home field next Wednesday, May 19th – time and opponent to be announced
The WPIAL girls’ lacrosse section play will begin on March 29, 2011 and must be completed according to the schedule.

Packing your bag for practice: You should have your stick, goggles, mouthpiece (I suggest having an extra one. You can get them for $1 at K-Mart), WARM CLOTHES (bring layers you can always take a layer off if you’re too hot), both CLEATS & tennis shoes, water bottle (if you weren’t at conditioning on Thursday we’ll have one for you on Monday), gloves (your stick will get cold!)

Monday marks the beginning of our mandatory practices. Please Keep in mind:

Lacrosse Attendance A. Girls’ must arrive and be picked up on time.
B. Coach needs to be notified via C. Pre-season Conditioning Attendance D. In-Season Practice Attendance 1. Players should be in the cafeteria working on homework prior to the start of practice. Players are NOT permitted to leave campus for any reason prior to practices. 2. Practices are mandatory, with the following exceptions: A. You did not go to school because you were sick, or you went home early because you were sick. B. Injury (I would still like you to be at practice) C. All other reasons will be considered a skipped practice, unless approved by Bill OR Lyndsey prior. D. If you miss a practice, you will not play in at least 1 half of the next game. E. Game Attendance 1. If you miss a game, you will not play the next game. 2. Games are mandatory, with the following exceptions: A. You did not go to school because you were sick, or you went home early because you were sick. B. Injury (I would still like you to be at games) C. All other reasons will be considered a skipped game, unless approved by Bill or Lyndsey prior. III. e-mail prior to ALL absences! Arrival and Times A. Practices1. Players should arrive 15 minutes prior to start time. 2. Players should run their 2 laps and start stretching 3. Practice Schedule a. Monday-Thursday: 3:30pm-5:30pm b. Friday: 3:30pm-5:00pm B. Away Games 1. When a bus is available for away games 2. Exceptions: . Parents give the coach a signed permission slip for them to ride home with another player’s parents. a. Parents sign the bus roster saying that they are taking their child home. 3. AT 3:30pm – ran by the captains ALL students are expected to ride it. Game Schedule C. Home Games1. Players are expected to arrive 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to the start of the first game. 2. Players are expected to be on the field and warming up 1 hour prior to the start of the first game 3. Game Schedule IV. Uniform & Equipment Requirements A. Lack of proper equipment will result in 3 laps for the first player without proper equipment and 1 lap foreach additional player without proper equipment. Captains are in charge of policing equipment and will run one additional lap more than the team if Bill or Lyndsey finds players not in compliance. Players who did not have the proper equipment will sit out the rest of practice and it will be deemed a skipped practice (see II. D. 1.) B. Field Players 1. Skirts and Jersey (Provided by team) 2.
